Assessing Your Image Quality
Determining the printability of an image for large formats might seem daunting, but Our Custom Print Creation process is simple and easy process.
However, this guide simplifies that process. And if you’re still uncertain, feel free to email us your image for a personal evaluation.
Modern Cell Phones: Images taken with contemporary smartphones, provided they are in focus, can be enlarged up to 40 x 60 inches without sacrificing quality. The cameras in today’s cell phones are remarkably advanced.
DSLR Cameras: Similarly, photos shot with a DSLR camera can comfortably be expanded to 40×60 inches, ensuring your prints look stunning at a substantial size.
When your image is sourced online from platforms like Facebook, other social networks, Pixabay, or similar sites, assessing its suitability for printing requires extra steps. In these cases, you’ll need to examine the image dimensions closely.
If your image is over 3000 pixels on each side, you are probably good at most sizes poster sizes.
If your image is around 2000 pixels on each side, you are probably good to print 24 x 36 inches or smaller.
If your image is under 2000 pixels on each side, you can probably print 18 x 20 inches or smaller.
All requested prints will be checked upon receiving the file(s), so we’ll let you know if we see any issues.
Both your image and the print size you choose have an aspect ratio and the closer they match, the easier making your poster will be.
So if your image is taller than it is wider, you’re probably going to end up with a vertical poster.
On PC right click your image, click properties, go to details tab, and look in the image section.
On a Mac, you should see something similar by double tapping your trackpad, and selecting the “get info” option.
iPhones are a little more complicated to get these details, so we suggest emailing the full sized image to yourself to open on a computer.
On an Android device, you want to go to your photos, select the photo, click the … up in the right corner, and scroll to the bottom to find the image size.
